Jason - Super Hero Awards Winner

CONGRATULATIONS TO JASON HOY, SUPER HERO AWARDS WINNER!

When Rowan was just nine years old he encountered a bike accident leaving him without vision. His family needed a medical practitioner they could trust and lean on at the Queensland Children’s Hospital, and that’s when Rowan first met his hospital hero Jason.

From the first day of Rowan’s admission, Clinical Nurse Consultant Jason Hoy became his trusted support. “He answered all of our questions and concerns at any time of the day that reassured us immensely” – Jill, Patient Rowan’s mum.

For Rowan and his family, the hospital would be a different place without Jason. From the frequent check ins to sharing funny jokes, Rowan and his family were impacted by Jason’s warmth leading them to shine the light on his service. Rowan’s family nominated him to be the latest recipient of the Juiced TV Super Hero Awards, proudly supported by QSuper, now part of Australian Retirement Trust.

“They are a family I’ll never forget. They taught me so much and I feel privileged to be a part of their journey,” Jason shared.

“Rowan in particular is such a positive and happy child. It might sound cliché but watching him and being around his positivity in light of his situation has inspired me—although he is the one who has lost his vision, he is always the one cracking jokes to make our days better.

Rowan is working hard on his recovery and the family return to the hospital every six months for check-ups.

Jason’s support has greatly impacted Rowan’s entire family as his mum Jill shared, “Jason would come to Rowan’s beside to check on Rowan to ensure everything was going after each surgery he ever had.”.

Jason is one of many Super Heroes helping patients achieve their dreams. If you have a Super Hero at the hospital, help us to give them the recognition they deserve by nominating them for Juiced TV’s Super Hero Awards.
